President: Kaylee Montney My name is Kaylee and I’m from Traverse City, MI. I am a senior in Animal Science with a minor in Plant, Animal, and Microbial Biotechnology. My ultimate goal is to attend vet school for large animal medicine and veterinary research. My main area of interest is in equine, but I also have experience working with cattle, pigs, poultry, and companion animals. I have been in ASURSA all throughout undergrad, and I served as the Research Chair last year. I’ve worked in a number of different labs on a variety of projects ranging from toxicology and nutrition to biomedical research. I also conducted research on Brucellosis and other zoonotic diseases while in Nepal in the summer of 2018. I’m currently on a project with laying hens looking at bone health by conducting CT scanning and 3-D bone analysis. I hope to make ASURSA really fun this year and help everyone develop an interest in research!
Vice President: Jenna Grabowski My name is Jenna Grabowski. I am a junior Animal Science major. I plan on attending veterinary school after my undergraduate degree. This summer I continued working in Fairbanks, Alaska at Trail Breaker Kennel. I am currently working in multiple research labs, but I am working on undergraduate research credit in Animal Molecular Genetics Lab. I look forward being your Vice President this year!
Secretary: Hannah Frimodig I'm Hannah Frimodig, ASURSA's secretary this year. I'm currently a junior from Howell, MI. I'm an animal science major on the pre-veterinary track with a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation. I take all the meeting minutes and run most of the administrative things for the club. Treasurer: Shelby Vogan My name is Shelby Vogan. I am the Treasurer for ASURSA this year! I am currently a Junior studying Psychology with a double minor in Youth and Society, and Cognitive Science. I currently work at the new allergen free dining hall called Thrive in Owen Hall as a student supervisor.
Research Co-Chair: Shayla Bajric Hello! My name is Shayla and I’m a research co-chair in ASURSA. I am a junior in Fisheries and Wildlife on the pre-vet track, and I minor in Spanish because I love the language and it’s important to have linguistic and communication skills. I’m from Grand Rapids, Michigan and I love my home city. Conservation of endangered animals, disease studies, and plants are my passions, and I am eager to share them with others. I have been involved with collecting and presenting ASURSA project data before, and I have designed and presented a project for a two-month tropical ecology and conservation study abroad in Costa Rica. My job in ASURSA is to help coordinate the research project and the presentations involved with it in the spring semester.
Public Relations: Jennifer Laviolette My name is Jennifer also known as JJ! I am from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan; Escanaba. My major is Animal Science and am planning on going to vet school. I have three cats back at home and am a huge dog girl. This is my first year of being on the E-board of ASURSA. As Public Relations representative my plans are to help make you guys more aware of our events and when meetings are held. Research Co-Chair: Renee Harbowy
Social/Community Service: Sydney Puda My name is Sydney Puda and I am a sophomore from Northville, MI. I am an Animal Science major and my plan is to get into Vet School and go into large animal medicine. This is my second year on ASURSA and my first year on the Eboard. As social and community service chair, I plan fun team building events for the club and find ways that ASURSA can make a difference in the community with community service. This year, I am also working with Dr. Nielsen and Dr. VandeHaar on a research project observing how different types of milk affects the gut development of dairy calves.
Fundraising: Ashleigh Motoligin Hi my name is Ashleigh Motoligin. I am a senior majoring in Animal Science pre vet. This is my third year in ASURSA, and my second year on board. I have worked with Dr. Nielsen and Alyssa Logan working with sprinting calves. I work at the MSU vivarium with the research cats and dogs. I am from Romeo, MI and have a dog, 2 cats, a bunny, and a hedgehog. I am on the MSU Hunt seat team and love working with horses. A fun fact about me is that I have a twin brother!
Student Senate Representative: Daria Wedeven Hi! My Name is Daria Wedeven and I am the Student Senate chair for ASURSA in the spring semester. This is my first year in ASURSA and I am very excited to be joining in on the upcoming research project! I attend the Student Senate meetings and report back to our group to make sure that we are up to date with the events happening with the other CANR student organizations! I am currently a junior studying Animal Science with a concentration in pre-veterinary studies. I have spent many years working at the small animal clinic back home, but I have also been working with swine for the past 4-5 years. I also work at the MSU swine farm and have loved every minute! I have hopes and dreams of becoming a veterinarian who performs mixed animal services. I have a dog, 2 cats, a rabbit, and usually 6 pigs in the spring/summer that we raise for 4-H!
